Acai Berry Product Reviews

Bom Dia Acai and Cacao

Bom Dia, which means "good morning" in Portuguese, is a darker, tasty blend that is noticably different from the other Acai juice blends. Bom Dia has three flavors at the time of this writing, Acai Berry with Mangosteen, Acai Berry with Pomegranate, and this unique flavor, Acai Berry with Cacao, which is the seed pod that Cocoa comes from, also from the Amazon rainforest.

Bom Dia Acai Berry with Cacao

It was only a matter of time until someone put Cacao together with Acai in a drink, they both have Chocolate overtones and grew up in the same neighborhood. After becoming used to the berry-centric taste of many other Acai smoothie flavors, I almost didn't take a second sip of this drink... But I'm glad I did, it is unique and very tasty. I don't have a clue if the majority of you will like it or not, I think it's a taste that people are either going to love or hate on an individual basis.

What else is in this blend?

Bom Dia Acai Berry with Cacao juice has listed these ingredients on the bottle: Acai Juice, Cacao puree, Apple juice, Guarana, Merlot grape juice, natural flavors, and ascorbic acid.

How much does Bom Dia Acai Berry with Cacao cost?

I picked up a single 11.5 Fluid ounce, plastic bottle at my local health food store for about $5. It was zero fat and a bit filling too, so if you like the flavor I'd say it was a good buy.

What is the ORAC value of Acai Berry with Cacao?

Bom Dia is one of the few companies that at least tries to answer this question. On the back of every bottle, they have a bar graph comparing "Bom Dia Acai Berry Fruit" to other fruits, and it even states that the measurement is in ORAC Units in Grams of Edible fruit... Which means they didn't include the Seed. (We all know that when you grind the seed up in the drink your ORAC value can go way up, but that's really hard to do and still have a tasty drink!)

Bom Dia states that their Acai has 472 ORAC units while Cranberries only have 95 and Blueberries only 62. I guess that sounds right considering they don't include the Seed, however, the ORAC value you're drinking should be much lower simply because they've diluted it down with so many other ingredients.
