Acai Palm
The acai palm or açaí palm is where acai
berries grow. The scientific name of the palm trees which bear
the acai berries in abundance is Euterpe oleracea. The acai
palm trees are mostly found in swamps and floodplains. The acai
palm trees have many uses not just to produce the acai
berries.

Description of the Acai Palm Tree
Each acai palm tree is large and tall. Each
tree has many trunks and many branches. Each acai palm trunk
produces four to eight bunches of acai berries throughout the
year. Young acai palm trees do not produce fruit. They usually
have to be at least four to five years old to start producing
acai berries.

Each trunk measures up to 25 meters
tall and four to six inches in diameter wide.

On average, each acai palm tree has four to
eight trunks. However, an acai palm tree can have up to 25

used to thatch homes as well as for weaving.
